Depending upon whether potential immigrants are children or adults, in Australia there are many programs, both public and private, to suit on arrival.
For children and tertiary students, English (as a Second Language) training is almost always available within the respective school system.
For adults, the government provides free or low-cost English language training, such as:
- Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP): For recent arrivals with beginner’s level English.
- Advanced English for Migrants Program (AEMP): For permanent residents with more elevated levels of English.
In addition, there are various other programs from the private sector on offer.
